I can talk my way out of trouble - should I try?

That is rare in my experience. Most people talk their way into trouble. Don't be one of these people. Be nice, be polite, but don't answer any questions, don't give any statements, don't explain anything, and don't help the police in their quest to arrest you or prosecute you. As I said, you can blame that on me in that you can tell the police that I ordered you not to agree to any of these things and that I am your lawyer. Whatever you do, don't make their lives simpler or their prosecution of you easier.
