The first thing you need to know if you are dealing with the police is that the police are not your friends! They are looking to prosecute or arrest you. They are looking for enough information to allow them to do that without any additional work. Do not talk to them. Do not answer their questions, do not agree to searches, do not agree to any tests (except the Intoxilyzer EC/IR II test which is the big breathalyzer at the police station). Below are some short informational paragraphs about various situations that you might find yourself in. For more information contact my office, or read my full website.
Your best offense is a good defense. Take the time to remain silent. Don't hope that you will get out of this quickly so you can finish your errands; hope that you won't get charged even if it takes you additional time. Make sure you don't assist the police in prosecuting you. Without confessions, admissions and agreements police would have a very hard time convicting people. Don't explain you only had two beers. Don't explain that you were only going a little fast or that you are almost home. Don't explain to the police, it will only hurt you. Call me promptly.
